About my teaching practice

In this section you can gain understanding of my practice and what is important to me as a teacher.

Over the years of practice I have identified educational gaps and groups of students' needs. The classes listed below are based on the needs identified.

Core values

Introducing students to the Art of dance and developing skills in it is as important to me as helping students to develop as individuals.

I work towards developing students as independent and conscious learners, who are curious, able to take risk, collaborate, listen with patience and are aware of their bodies and thoughts.

Types of classes you can request

Dance Class

Contemporary dance for young adults - technique and choreography

The class is tailored to age groups 14- 16 and 16-18. In these classes I take into consideration the physical and psychological changes that this age group encounters, such as the relationship to their changing body, the intricacy of their interpersonal relationships, and the ongoing establishment of character and worldview. The class is always adapted to the level of the students. The adaptation can vary from foundation to advanced level, depending on students mental readiness and previous training. The technical aspect of the class works through students understanding of movement mechanics, balance, alignment, strength and stamina. The choreographic aspect of the class nurtures students creative expression, develops their movement vocabulary and muscle memory. They learn how to apply the correct intention behind actions, create and complete wholesome and beautiful dances. Through the adolescent classes my aim is always to establish fun, safe and nourishing environment.

Dance for children with SEND

In these sessions I focus on musicality, working with rhythmical patterns, varieties of sounds and often body percussion. Touch is an important element of the class. It is used as a way to enhance connectedness, signify instructional or movement change. Aim of the session is to improve coordination, physical strength and create positive emotional experience. The participation of the one to one support workers is of huge importance. Their experience is also taken into consideration when planning the session. Initial conversation with the lead of the class prior the session is crucial. It is to give out more detailed information about specific students needs and boundaries. It is also an opportunity to adjust expectations on both sides.

Creative dance for children

The children creative classes focus on children age 5 and above. The aim of the class is to develop children's coordination, spacial awareness, correct physical alignment, musicality and collaborative skills. The methodology used in class captures children's imagination into creative exercises, movement sequences and dances. The class sets up a good foundation for future training and continuing development of dance technique.

Contemporary dance technique and choreography - for University dance students and semi professional dancers

This class is an additional training for those currently in training. The class sets as a priority to identify the needs of dance students in their technical preparation and provides space for practice and detailed work. The class also aims at expanding students movement vocabulary, capacity to remember sequences and embody the intent of a choreography. This session has the feeling of rehearsal rather than traditionally structured class and can be done with as little as two participants.
